A self-guided workbook for spending that feels hard to interrupt
When Spending No Longer Feels Like a Choice
You know you want to stop spending. You may even know exactly what you “should” do instead.
But in the moment, spending can feel less like a decision and more like something that’s already happening.
This workbook helps you slow that moment down, understand what’s happening, and make more room for choice.
Maybe this sounds familiar...
You tell yourself you’re done spending for a while.
Then something happens. You’re tired. Bored. Stressed. Excited. Lonely. Overwhelmed.
You see the thing, open the app, start browsing, or suddenly find yourself at checkout.
And somewhere in there, the part of you that had a plan gets very quiet.
Afterward, you may be left wondering:
Why did I do that again when I knew I didn’t want to?
This workbook is for that moment.
Instead of "How do I make myself stop spending?"
Better questions might be:
What was happening before the urge?
What did spending seem likely to fix for me in that moment?
What was my body feeling or doing?
What made the purchase feel urgent, relieving, exciting, inevitable, or hard to walk away from?
What happened afterward?
Over time, those observations can turn one big blurry problem (“I’m terrible with spending”) into smaller, more workable pieces.
That’s where more choice can begin.
What's inside the workbook?

This isn’t another spending crackdown.
You will not be asked to sort every purchase into “want” or “need.”
You will not be given a list of things you’re allowed to buy.
You will not be asked to prove that you’re responsible enough to deserve spending money.
And the goal is not necessarily to eliminate every urge or change every spending behavior.
Behaviour change is one possible outcome, but not the only valid marker.
Noticing earlier. Understanding more. Recovering faster. Feeling less shame. Being able to stay present long enough to make a decision.
Those matter too.
This workbook may be useful if...
You’ve repeatedly thought some version of:
“I know what I need to do. I just can’t make myself do it.”
You spend more than you intended and don’t fully understand what happened.
Trying to restrict yourself works briefly… and then the invevitable rebound feels like failure.
You avoid looking at purchases afterward because you already feel bad.
You’re less interested in being told to “just stop” and more interested in understanding why stopping can feel so hard.
You do not need to identify as a compulsive shopper, shopping addict, or anything else to use this workbook.
